A humidity cassette made of clay pellets. This cassette helps maintain an optimal humidity level based on your needs.
It is recommended that you replace the cartridges every 5 years for optimal performance.
It is placed at the bottom of the wine cabinet. These humidity cassettes are compatible with all EuroCave single-temperature wine cabinet models.
For aging cellars equipped with humidity control only, specifically:
Humidity Cartridge
Humidity is a key factor in proper wine storage. A humidity level of around 70% is recommended to keep the corks supple and airtight. Below 50%, the corks can dry out, allowing oxygen to enter the bottle and potentially causing the wine to oxidize. Above 80%, the air becomes too humid, which can promote mold growth and damage the labels.
The humidity cartridge is an accessory made of clay beads, which are extremely effective at naturally regulating humidity. This is because the clay beads are porous. They absorb excess moisture but can also slowly release water when the air becomes too dry.
It is an eco-friendly solution because clay is a natural, non-toxic material, and it is also economical because it can be reused indefinitely. Clay does not emit any odor, which is another key factor in ensuring optimal wine aging.
This accessory helps stimulate the process of moisture generation in the cellar through gradual water evaporation, thereby maintaining an optimal humidity level in the cellar.
If you notice low humidity (below 50%) a few days after putting your wine cooler into service, we strongly recommend using the humidity cartridge that came with your unit. In very dry outdoor conditions, you may need to add a second cartridge.
The humidity cartridge is easy to use. It is placed in the designated tray at the bottom of the wine cellar, under the grate. When using it for the first time, simply submerge it completely in water for a few minutes to saturate the clay pellets, then let it drain. Depending on outdoor conditions (dry ambient air), you may need to add about 10 cl of water every few months.
